I’m being very nerdy but if grandma lived in Ukraine hope her family wasn’t among those persecuted as being part of Stalin’s enforcers that killed 4 million+/- in Ukraine Holomodor in the 1930’s. Ukrainian peasants thought communists and Jews were interchangeable. Oh…died because of starvation.
My great-great aunt (my paternal grandfather’s aunt) had a millinery shop in Rotenburg an der Fulda (if memory serves). We have a fabulous picture of her and her sister modeling the latest fashionable hats and dresses with their two shop girls wearing beautiful traditional dresses and hats, and my 16-y-o grandfather looking quite dashing in a white suit and boater. That picture is a treasure!
