Wow things have changed. Shortly after I moved into my first apartment at 19 years old (1980), with my first job, a slick fast-talking life insurance salesman knocked on my door. I was very naive, and he talked me into buying a policy after actually advising me not to talk to my father about it first. He knew how to play on my “I can make my own decisions now” weakness. Many years later, I bumped into him; he asked me if I still had that policy. I said “NOPE”. He didn’t care; he got his commission. They push the “investment” aspect of those policies to young people, when there are many much better ways of investing money.
