Like I’ve been saying all along: in customer facing jobs, there are intangibles beyond just carrying out orders and shuffling papers. Call it flirting, schmoozing, whatever: I call it salesmanship. And the guy’s clearly good at it. Businesses reject these types of skills at their peril.
On the longest job I worked at, I retired and collected my pension after 28 years. I offered to train my replacement, but they said “No”. Three weeks later, I was called and asked if I wanted my job back. I said “No” nicely…
