Personally, I’d recommend a laserjet, as the cartridges last far longer than an ink printer would, meaning you’d have to get new ones that much less often. And these days they can print in both color and black and white, so seriously, why not?
That all said, having a father who works with printers and having picked up a number of things about them through him, Len’s not wrong to be doing his research. Just because the price is right doesn’t automatically mean its the printer they need for their purposes, or, even more importantly, the best or most reliable printer for that price range.
The really important question is ask in the store is, “Does it have LRF?” (Stands for Little Rubber Feet — a gag that a friend of mine used to claim he would pull on salespeople anytime he was shopping for electronic equipment.)

Just go to Wally-World and buy a scanning printer. Good grief.

I like mine with the refillable ink tanks. Ink lasts so much longer.

Don’t be ridiculous! You don’t need a 2400 dpi resolution!!!!! 1200 dpi is fine! (Sheesh!!!)
