Love Flask’s expressions in these panels. The first one looks so groggy – like she was in REM when the alarm went off. Very sleepy and disgruntled. The third panel her under-eyelids (one being more straight than the other) remind me of Wally’s eyes. I like how you use their under-eyelids to enhance their expressions, Aaron! Great job!
Somehow, I think this is the calm before a Flask conniption storm. It will be interesting to see tomorrow’s panel. In the meantime, Wally and Holly look so peaceful watching the sunset.
I want to see Flask explode and then Wally cross his arms and tell her bluntly that either Holly comes or he doesn’t complete the mission, end of discussion.
From the look of the first panel, I would conclude that Flask isn’t much of a morning person!Aaron the look you put on Flask’s face showing the flash of a painful memory, a memory of love lost and a more innocent time, is an indication of your real talent. There is so much being said about Flask in the third and fourth panels without a single word of dialogue. I see the pain of having lost something so precious and so beautiful that it changed her, perhaps forever. So Flask is human after all!Only a truly great artist can tell such a story.
Oh man, Flask’s going to be unbearable now she sees that Wally “managed” to sneak his sweetheart outside. And that leaves her with Petey, whom she refuses to introduce into his own history.
Ok, time to announce the “buy Aaron a scanner” campaign. That’s right, he doesn’t have one, and without it he can’t upload more sketches of early character designs to the Underground forum. I’m hoping to raise at least $60 (USD). If you want to help out, please visit the Underground and let us know how much you want to donate.
I dunno. I think Flask is more of a pragmatist than we’re giving her credit for. Someone like Holly—small of stature, but quick, and clearly no fool—can potentially be very useful in a mission like this. I think she’ll get over it pretty quickly, and enlist her.
1.Flask goes with the mission as planned, Holly tags along2.Flask tells Holly to take a hike.3.Same as 2, but with someone forcing Flask to let her come with4.Same as 1 or 3, but she proves to be exactly what they needed.
I love the depiction of Flask yawning….such feline, as it were. That under eyelid gives me the impression that our Philomena is one of those people with a permanent eyetwitch….
Freaked, or mildly surprised and confused? It’s really quite something to come on here and read the comments, and actually gain more insight into the subtleties of the strip that you happened to pass over at first glance. It helps one to appreciate completely what Aaron is doing here.

Why do I get the feeling Flask has just been given a very big carrot to dangle in front of Wally to ensure he does EXACTLY what she wants?

I’ll bet its been a long time since Holly watched a Sunrise. Those two probably didn’t sleep at all last night, but they don’t care.

Does anyone else have the feeling that the party’s over…?

I love the way her ears perk up when the alarm goes off in panel one.
