Maybe this: There is a protective mechanism in the control room. Detonation weapons don’t work, they explode. Marx knew this piece of information but kept it to himself. His dittoes had told him Flask had a gun in there. He sent Wally in to kill her. He knew Wally would refuse to use the gun. Ergo, he knew Flask would blow herself up. Does that make sense? (No spoilers here, by the way. I’m making it up as I go along, and not using any inside information.) Now at least we can hope Wally takes the helm and gets them all the heck out of there. Rematerialise in some other, safe location, enjoy a nice, hot bath and have wine and cheesh delivered to the master bedroom. Oh, and pick up Petey and the brain. And Linda.
