All three of our land lines ringers are off most of the day. Only one on left on if we are expecting a call is the one in the computer room. We don’t get a lot of calls just a lot of hang ups and messages/promotions we could care less about, the the delete button takes care of them. Then ringer back down again.
And then there are the people, weary of merely sending greeting cards to nursing home residents they don’t know as in yesterday’s installment, who dial numbers at random just so they can “brighten up” the days of other people they don’t know, and “let them know they’re not forgotten.” You know, the people who always want to stay on the line even with a wrong number or an obscene phone call.
No, wait, I guess people like that don’t really exist. Thank goodness. My mistake. Sorry to be so snarky!

A smart phone can be turned off, too.
