It took me 34 years of marriage to realize that when my recently deceased wife was “complaining” about anything, she didn’t want solutions she was “venting” and I just needed to listen. When she actually wanted help she would let me know. I miss her venting even if it was about me.
Everyone needs to vent from time to time. It’s time to listen and let the venter know you’re listening. Any solution you propose is something that has either been mulled over or is seen as impossible. Wait to be asked before giving advice, and if the request never comes, just give the person time to work it out. Don’t step on that person’s growth.
