When you change you food habits, you have to realize that any weight you lose will quickly return when you go back to your normal eating habits. So, unless you want to eat that way for the rest of your life, it probably does your body more harm to yo-yo diet than to simply stick with a routine that keeps you as healthy as possible but is not totally disgusting.
Until about five years ago, I had basically been on a diet since I was 15 years old. I believed a calorie chart that said you would lose a pound for every 3500 calories you cut out of your diet. Then I did the math and realized that if that were actually true, I would have totally disappeared sometime in the early 80s.

When I finish this large chocolate bar I’m going to ponder on why those magazine diets didn’t work.
