Since retiring, my sleep pattern is all weird. After years of bedtime between 9 and 10, getting up at 5, now bedtime is anywhere from 9 till after midnight, and wakey time varies from 3:30 to 7 or so. It’s annoying, but since I don’t generally have any place to go or anything to do on a schedule, I just deal.
Never needed a full eight but I DO very much appreciate an uninterrupted four. Rarely nap during the day, never home or idle enough long enough then anyway.
I’ve just gotten a CPAP machine for sleep apnea and the insurance won’t pay for outrageously priced thing unless I wear it at least 4 hrs a day. Since it feels like I’m in the movie Aliens, that can be difficult. For those wondering, the machine has a built-in cell modem and calls in my progress daily.

I’m lucky to get 3 1/2 hours at a time, and I can’t sleep during the day.

I’m lucky to get 4 hours… but I sleep 4 hours, get up, do stuff, go back to bed, get another 3-4 hours… etc.
