In our neighborhood, porch pirates “doing the right thing because they realized it wasn’t anything they wanted” means dumping it in a storm drain at least 4 blocks from where they stole it. You’ll only get it back if an honest and ethical person finds it and brings it to you, or at least stops by to tell you where it is.

A young lady knocked on my door and asked me if I had received a package. “No, why?” She showed me an e-mailed picture of a box on a patio mesh-top table. Neither of us had any idea where that is!

Maybe it’s like on Night Court and a couple got a box for the sperm bank and thought it was their Fruit-of-the-Month club mailing. Boy were they surprised!!!
