Weed: Man, I wish these guys would get a new enlarger. This one has to be 20 years old! Michael: What are you doing now? Weed: Darkening the main image a little. Michael: You could do all this on a computer, Weed. Weed: I know. But for me, photography is like a love affair, Mike. It's better when everything is "hands on."
You don’t darken the ‘main image’ while printing by waving a card around in the light path. You’ll either make a hole with your hands and ‘burn in’ or do it through a hole in a piece of cardboard.
Oh, and there’s nothing wrong with a 20 year-old enlarger. Optics never change.
