AHA! This is an old one but with new text on Panels and 3. Connie originally said:

Panel 2 “This is psychological warfare! John has done this to keep you home!”

Panel 3 “Don’t you see? It’s a plot to curb your need for freedom and self-expression!”

I’m glad she toned it down a bit. This definately works better :) (and is easier to relate to)

Question for the long time “FBOFW” readers on the list. I’m a long time fan of the comics page, and the strip has always been in the local paper as far as I know. The furthest back I remember was Farley’s act of heroism at the river.

When Lynn ended the initial run of the strip, and talked about it continuing as a re-telling with a different “free-er” art style, I took her at her word. But today I’m hearing that these are reprinted strips? If that’s true, I’m very disappointed.

There’s a book called “Remembering Farley”. It collects all strips relating to that dog. You can read much of it, including the original of today’s strip, here:

I’d say having two very young children keeps Elly home more than just the addition of a new puppy. And I hope John and Michael will be assuming most of Farley’s care.

Connie doesn’t have to lecture Elly about anything what Elly does.

Edcoyote: I believe that she is reworking some of the art as well as some of the dialog, giving her the chance to expand where she wanted to previously and wasn’t able to, or to work towards different conclusions when she gets to the same general point in the story. I find a lot of it is new enough to me, since I wasn’t always reading a newspaper when she was first doing the series.

I don’t think it is reprinted strips, it is more of a Peanuts idea. She still has the same story to tell, and she has to set it up because she is using the same family, drawn as she drew it when it was her alone, and she doesn’t plan on the kids growing up as they did originally. So if you are disappointed, don’t read it, but if you enjoy it for what it is, then simply enjoy it, what is the problem with that.
