Even worse, Lake Perris in Moreno Valley, CA was for a long time considered one of the most polluted. It seems that people would change their babies’ diapers and throw them into the lake for disposal instead of the trash cans, not to mention those who used the water as their toilet. There were many documented cases of dysentery because of this. The last time I was there, huge signs had been put up in both English and Spanish telling people to use the bathrooms and dispose of used diapers properly. I haven’t been back for a long time, but I hear it has been cleaned up.

I just came back from the beach and came home with a couple bags of sea glass. Not that I’m encouraging more litter, but I do enjoy the way the ocean wears down glass to where the sharp edges are rounded and the shiny surface is worn. But I also think that plastic is much worse than glass. At least glass is beautiful (to some) and can be recycled. There is a huge pile of waste floating in the ocean that will never be cleaned up unless some nations work together.

oceanview va beach is nasty. the chesapeake has all sorts of fudge-logs, garbage, etc just floating around. and va beach side puts you on Jaws’ menu (several cases of bit off limbs, etc. one girl’s entire rear muscle mass from her hip to knee got munched off). no thanks.

It drives me crazy when I’m walking my dog and we have to play Dodge the Bottle Shards for 1/3 of our walk. Because, as we all know, the sidewalk makes a splendid trash heap [/sarcasm]. There was one night when I was in college that a huge group of people (enough to fill an auditorium) got drunk in our apartment complex (not exclusive to students either—a number of families with small children lived there) at one in the morning and started throwing empty beer bottles at my apartment. It kept me up on a night before I had to be at work early in the morning, and all I could think of was some innocent, barefoot kid stepping in the grass on broken bottle shards. So, at the ripe old age of 22, I became to nosy neighbor who had to call the police two or three times in one night because the cops’ first warning didn’t make a difference. Sigh.

True. But then those who haven’t yet developed the bad habit will think twice before doing so!

Who said it was a kid that broke the glass? Who said it was an American? Isn’t this taking place in Canada. I like that it is showing Micheal doing the responsible thing and throwing it away

Bring back cloth diapers! Disposable diapers were a bad idea. Are Moms lazy now or what is it? Washing diapers isn’t difficult, and it reduces your carbon footprint considerably.

I work at a library, last night when I got off work there was a dirty diaper next to the door of my car. We went out for dinner and when we parked, there was another dirty diaper on the pavement. The worst part in both cases was that there was a trash can within five feet. I will never understand people.

What’s going on with the last panel. Is it me, or is there something wrong with the drawing of Lizzie?

People really don’t think. I stepped on a piece of metal in a crick we were swimming in as kids. Developed a nasty infection. Nearly lost my foot. People need to start being a bit more considerate of others and stop this two dimensional thinking. “IF IT DOESN’T EFFECT ME, I DON’T CARE” (BOX MENTALITY)
