    Actually, breast-feeding a baby is far better than giving her/him formula… ;)

Don’t hate me, but our first slept through the night from her 3rd night home on. Our 2nd was such a pain, she took a whole week.

I was a better baby dad with the first one than the second. We stopped at two for some reason.

You’re right, How! I had a plastic child and was smart enough from day-1 to realize it and appreciate it. Therefore, I did not do a repeat and risk getting a messed up one the second time around.

That’s nothing. My first litter was sextuplets. Then three months later I had septuplets, including one still-born. All before I was two years old.

My daughter was very colicky AND she did not want to suckle on either me or a bottle. For feeding, my mother and I made a very dilute mix of formula and baby cereal and dribbled some in her mouth every time she yelled. For the colic, I paced the floor with her for about 6 weeks and averaged 2 hours sleep. First hubby wanted nothing to do with her because she was a girl, just one of the many reasons we split up a few months after she was born.

We had five, and from my perspective it’s by far the best…also less stinky poop!!

Duck, it sounds like you had a pair of children who were out of the ordinary. Most babies do sleep at least three hours at a time, and usually more. I’m sorry you had such a bad experience, and yes, based on that experience, Jean is very lucky (and so was I).

    Lynn’s Notes:

In my next life, I’m coming back as a man.

By the time that happens, they’ll figure out how to make men do all the work.

In reading the colicky comments, when our five came along (one at a time, thank goodness), I was advised by my grandmother to warm a hand towel in the microwave and put it on their stomach, then hold them firmly against me. It worked. It loosened their stomach muscles, and the colic lessened dramatically. Rocking them while holding them helped too.

My son slept through the night by the time he was one month old. Before that it was every three hours around the clock… Didn’t think I was going to survive that!

Re: being free of children (which it sounds like you are)…at least both of you agreed to do so! Sometimes one wants to and the other doesn’t…makes a bit of a nasty mess. Sounds like you enjoy each other! ;)
