Lizzie and/or Christopher either broke the jar or ate the contents therein.

Sure so she can find out and do the interrogating as she should. And also stop Elizabeth from becoming one too.

When telling a story, you have to put just enough bait on the hook to have the listener begging to learn what’s next.

Meaning: Micheal is a born writer. (takes after his mother).

How do you quietly slam a door?

Because the weather here is so hot and we run AC all summer, when my children were young I had door closers on all the doors so they didn’t get left open. You couldn’t slam them if you tried!

My mother had a simple remedy for tattle-tales. Whoever told the tale got the punishment instead of the actual perpetrator. Unless, of course it was a dangerous situation that needed to be intervened.

MOM: What do you mean your sister ran away to elope with her boyfriend yesterday? WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME??

SON: Because you told me not to tattle on her. Going out to play now….

Elly has [had?] a cookie jar in the shape of women’s underwear? Very appetizing! Or, perhaps, meant to dull one’s appetite for the cookies.

Can someone who is a parent explain to me why parents don’t like tattle tales? I would think it would be useful to know when their children are misbehaving if their other children tell them! In this case, Elly would find out the cookie jar was broken even if Michael never told her, but there are plenty of other misdeeds parents would never find out if a sibling didn’t tell them. Why would a parent not want that?!? I don’t get it.
