I used to love coming up with unusual homonyms (aka homophones) in 6th grade. For example, for the word ‘load’ I’d throw in not only (mother) ‘lode’, an uncommon word among us city kids, but also ‘lowed’ as in what the cattle did.-‘Nudder example: ’write’ and ‘right’ we all knew. I’d give up ‘wright’ (a quaint word for one who works with wood, e.g. wheelwright or shipwright), then ‘rite’, which I learned in Hebrew school. That one created a few giggles. In any case, methinks I drove the teacher nuts.
