reminds me of the struggle between generations; those that only know central AC controlled by a thermostat, and those coming from old days of AC units. Those from old times typically say “raise the temperature” meaning “make it colder” because those old units had a knob with a diagram of blue line that increases in thickness, ought to mean “increase in coldness” – Anyway, talking to new generations, “raise the temperature” is understood in terms of the actual temperature, which means “make it hotter”.
