Andy: Your teacher called today, Jason. Jason: Oh? Andy: She says you've been hiding magazines in your textbooks and reading them during class hours. She says she doesn't know what to do with you. One idea was to let you guest-lecture. Jason: The American Journal of Physics isn't really a "magazine" by the way.

Is that Jason or a young Sheldon Cooper?

At least they’ll never have to worry about university tuition for him, since he’s probably already getting offers of full scholarships!

I once taught a “gifted” class made up of Jasons. It was beyond AP. Also the easiest class I ever watched. They’d carry the whole hour with a civil on topic discussion.

How does Jason get The American Journal of Physics? First of all it’s expensive and then it’s restricted to the academia and/or scientific institutions.

@twypsi: It’s roughly $200/year depending on how you subscribe. Many subscribers loan out issues after they’ve read them. If a kid wants to read it any physics teacher will be happy to provide it.

I say send that kid to high school or college and be done with it.

You also have a major role in a popular TV show that based your character’s background on your life? :)

What’s weird about reading journals during boring school lectures? I and all my friends did that, though my personal taste ran to biological journals like “Ichthyologica” (no longer being published) and historical research.
