I’d seen an abridged airing and didn’t know until adulthood that Charlie Brown got more than one rock. Personally, I find it more depressing than funny. It’s one thing for him not to get any valentines (even from Linus); it’s another thing for the adults in the neighborhood to ruin a kid’s Halloween on purpose. Did they even know it was him, or did they keep rocks on hand just in case someone came with a sucky costume? The MST3K cast said it best: “Did Charlie Brown poison the town water supply?”
