Outdoors is an MMO with incredible resolution and a single huge server. It follows the free-to-play/micro transaction model. The biggest downside is that PVP is on all the time and it only has a hardcore mode.

@legaleagle48, “MMO” = “massively multiplayer online” game, like World of Warcraft.“free to play/micro transaction model”=the game software is free, but in order to get the best experience with it you have to buy a lot of extra “downloadable” in-game equipment and content that costs a relatively small amount of money for each component, but can quickly add up to hundreds of dollars for people who get addicted to the base game.

PVP = player versus player, a mode where players compete with each other instead of playing against the game. It requires the most expensive or hardest to get equipment to win, and can attract some rather viciously competitive people who ruin the play experience for the people trying to play the game without being hyper-competitive.

“hardcore mode” – if you die, the game erases your character files, forcing you to start over with a new character. Death is permanent in the game. This can end a character that you’ve invested tens or even hundreds of hours in building.

What I actually came here to say about the comic, was that Jason’s and Marcus’ game reminds me of “The Sims”.

Well, supposedly, there was this one guy that respawned once. But he was the programmer’s son, so it was probably a an exploit.
