I gave up giving cash to charities after the United Way scam and then found out that the local “Jesus House” was paying their XO over 100Gs a year. I just give food now.

A commanding officer, or CO, is the leader. The executive officer, or XO, is second in command. When the CO is absent, it is usually the XO who is in charge.
