This reminds me of a friend whose brother decided to build a “hang glider” out of tree branches, and plastic garbage bags. His mother caught him as he was going up the ladder to the roof. I had to imagine if she hadn’t….
Big kites as kids! We made ours out of several panels from an old parachute we had. When it was complete we had a Delta kite with a 22 ft wing span. We used 1/8 in parachute chord for lines. Granted it had to be pretty windy to launch it but that was seldom an issue where we grew up. A friend who was a pilot told us being so large we needed nav lights on it, so we added the red and green lights as well.
