We seldom think of the child Jesus playing as all children like to do.
Tradition holds that part of his infancy was spent in Egypt, but his childhood was in Nazareth. Both societies had children’s toys… including dolls and spinning tops.
And as Joseph was said to be a carpenter, a top is a likely toy to make for the boy.
So it would remind him of his childhood and of his earthly father.
