Frazz by Jef Mallett for December 30, 2001
Transcript:
"A fairly common metaphor puts life at just a year, divided into quadrants much as seasons would appear." "With spring our youth, a mix of gentle warmth and thunderstorms, promise and potential bursting forth like buds and flowers." "Then, seamlessly, spring segues into summer, and we're graced with boundless time and energy to maximize or waste." "They're not so boundless, either one, we're shocked to learn come fall, as nature glows and fizzles while we contemplate it all." "And winter: What to think? It's just as lovely as it's scary; bright and soft, a most unlikely dock for Styx's ferry. "You haven't even started waxing your skis?!" "Sorry. I was waxing poetic."

Recently I read a list of the top ten smartest comic characters. I disagreed with most, and the absence of Frazz immediately rendered the whole project useless.
