Coach Hacker: I like my chair, my beer and tv shows and spending weekend mornings comatose. My life is not s bad one. I kind of wish I had one. Frazz says I'm getting there, but to try harder. Caulfield: Okay. Try another $5-per-song-harder.

Actually that last panel illustrates the modern music business quite well……

Varnes — it is the very model of a modern major publisher?

I am really liking Coach Hacker more and more… even thought that is not what I think we are to get from this story arc.

I keep hoping Coach will write something . Maybe I’m just too hopeful.

Rusty is right. The really talented and creative folks are usually ignored because they can’t be managed. Real creativity know no bounds…That’s why someone Jim Lauderdale can do a Bluegrass song, and then write and produce one that sounds like Smoky Robinson. Why not?…..They try to make you something you aren’t. Look what they did to poor Patsy Cline. A beautiful and raw country vocalist and they tried to make her pop. Her music suffered…. Curse you Music Business!!!!!.

I have done the occasional filk, often a couplet or two impromtu, to the annoyance of those within earshot. Still, to do what Rusty did, presumably while reading the comics, has my admiration.

Nice, Rusty! Of course we both may have to do Penzance for our Piracy!

I never liked country music, and I still don’t. But that’s just my opinion.
