Frazz: Actually, it tells you how many steps you take. Girl:..Which seems a bit much. Frazz: Actually, it tells you how many times you bounce up and down. Girl: I mean, I barely made it to the bathroom by the time class was over.

“Lead panel”? So that’s what it is called. I always called it the "throwaway"{ because that’s what most editors do with it. Quite often they are funnier than the main strip, and as Doublell points out, make the strip far more enjoyable.
