Best reasoning ever for publicly funded elections with mandatory voting and limited campaigning time.

You think the meanness ends on election day? How cute! Naive; but cute.

They should duel for the office – last man standing takes it. Favors skinny guys with good eyesight – which is two more positive attributes than we’ve been getting.

I once read a science fiction book that used an election system that was semi-random selection from the general population (selected by computer). If you actually WANTED the job, you were deemed insane and not elible for office. That’s where I’d like to live during election years for sure!

Amen to that.

Whats a Fortnight?

excellent idea. Take it one more step. No more withholding. You must send a check to pay your taxes.

Just think. We get an extra day every Presidential election. One more day to listen to the campaigns. Of course, if people would do their own research, we have one more day to ferret out the lies.

More people would vote if they thought their vote counted. The electoral college needs to go. It is not only outdated, but it is also corrupt. When a person wins the popular vote yet loses the presidency, corruption is afoot.

Will Rogers was supposedly famous for something related to this idea: The only man who should be elected is one who has to be dragged kicking and screaming into office.

You mean when Andrew Jackson accused JQ Adams of spending White House money on “gambling equipment” when it was just a chess set and a pool table?

THe meanness is worse than ever and will continue to get worse as the year rolls on. I wish it were over too.

2000 wasn’t a leap year, though, so Bill Clinton would have gotten a free bonus term… wait, why am I acting like that would be a problem?

Arizona’s presidential preference election took place on February 28th (yesterday), so that’s pretty close.

Where I work, I DO get paid time off to go vote on voting days! We don’t get the entire day off, just enough time to vote and come back to work.

That’s why I’ve only voted once in all the time that I’ve been an adult… I’ve only seen 1 candidate that didn’t act like a 3 year old with their mud-slinging. Personally, I want to vote for a leader, not the lesser of two evils!
