Frazz by Jef Mallett for April 01, 2012
Transcript:
Girl: My mom found these cat-eye glasses at the consignment shop! Boy: My dad found these ultra-sour kumquats at the grocery store! Girl: Do it! Boy: You do it! Mrs. Olsen: Do what? Girl: Sometimes the idea of a thing is just as satisfying and a whole lot smarter than doing it. Frazz: I remind myself every spring when the motorcycle advertisements come out.

Um,….I think I get this…a little…still can’t exactly figure out how the joke would have unfolded…

The teacher is wearing cat’s eye glasses and looks as though she’s just eaten a sour kumquat. Does that help?

I have a collection of caricatures my students have drawn of me, pretty easy actually. I look like a cross between Cheech Marin and Gandhi.

This is true, although seldom commented on. I have been an occasional cigar smoker for many years – averaging 2 a month & frequently not smoking for several months. [Nicotine seems to have no addicting effect on my system. It runs in the family.] But some years ago I noticed that just thinking about smoking a cigar satisfied me just as much.

There are a LOT of times it’s more fun to ‘THINK’ about it.Motorcycles, girls in shorts, confronting a political neanderthal…

I’m sure the cat-eye glasses had absolutely nothing to do with mocking Mrs. Olsen. ;·)

Nice glasses Mrs. Olsen!

That is a true sentiment! If we hadn’t done but only thought of doing some of the stupid things we had done, we would be much better off! Especially with motorcycles and the like.

Frazz is really into kumquats, and of course Mrs. Olsen with the cat’s eyes.

treesaureus: Yet I have never seen an adult take a bicycle spill, even in races, but saw a motorcycle spin out for no apparent cause in in middle of US 75 in the north of Dallas suburbs – and it wasn’t during parking lot hour either.

Caulfield once used kumquats to screw up his face for a tolerably good imitation of Mrs. Olsen.
