Frazz by Jef Mallett for October 16, 2013
Transcript:
Girl: Caterpillars go dormant and wake up as colorful butterflies. Trees light up in a blaze of glory before they go dormant. I've been known to throw a pretty good snit before bedtime. Miss Plainwell: So you're more of a tree personality. Girl: One serious sugar maple, I'd like to think!

Hmmmmmm….Mr. Mallet, what do you think of more stories about Miss Plainwell and girls? I think you should do more of that…..It seems like an interesting vein to mine…Nothing against Cauldwell and Frazz of course….But girls have stories, too….

Metamorphosis is not dormancy. A lot is going on at the cellular level.

I usually hear Hissy Fit, not snit. I’ve never actually heard anyone except one person say it. And even with her it sounded wrong. There are several other phrases people use for such a thing. What are other people’s favorite?

Good thing she’s not a sweetgum tree. That’s the bane of lawn care.

Potrzebie: Silver maple is even worse, with a constant supply of sucker trees coming up from the roots. You can cut them off, but the trunks just keep getting larger in diameter, the same as if they were still growing taller.
