Student: Why are you a teacher, Mr. Burke? I mean, you could probably do anything. Mr. Burke: There isn't anything more important. Student: He said it's because he has nothing better to do. Frazz: No, he did not, exactly.
That actually is what he said. “A crust of bread is better than nothing.” “Nothing is better than true love” therefore, by the transitive property, a crust of bread is better than true love. Sort of like how the prefix in- can mean not or very, as in “invaluable”. Or worse, “inflammable”
