The bucket does look a bit off, too long. But I have seen some nonstandard buckets that aren’t too different. OTOH, Varnes is right, he should leave the mop in.
Of course, flu (influenza) is a respiratory disease that is only very infrequently accompanied by vomiting. Gastrointestinal diseases have a variety of different causes, influenza virus not being among them, and occur at pretty steady rates year-round (with spikes due to outbreaks like Norovirus or tainted food served to the public). But it’s a comic — we understood the joke.
I don’t know the dates of the strip, but there has been a fair number of strips involving Frazz donating to help the school and for the students. (New books for the Library, New Exercise Balls, Slippers for kids with wet shoes on rainy days, a new glove for a kid who couldn’t afford to get one)

I’d leave the mop in the bucket, it makes it easier to to roll it that way…..In fact, it becomes the way you steer the thing…
