Coach Hacker; I'm thinking of running the turkey trot! What kind of energy gels should I buy? Miss Plainwell: Um...definitely the salted caramel. Caulfield: Who drains their fuel stores in a 5k? Miss Plainwell: Perhaps somebody just starting to think about it with five days to go.

You really can’t lose that much weight with just exercising…It really helps, but if you want to lose 30 or more pounds, you have to eat less, a lot less. One slice of toast equals a twenty minute walk….Do the math of a sandwich for lunch….Gotta eat less…Nothing else works…

They’re great for underweight/borderline people in manual labour jobs, keep ’em going till the next food break but easy to carry and fast to consume.

Good on the coach. Maybe Frazz and Miss Plainwell can give him some encouragement, dial the pace back, and jog/walk with him. A good start can mean staying with it over the long term.

He’s going to wear a belt with 2 water bottles, attach 10 gels to the belt, and pin his bib on the back of his shirt.

While most Turkey Trots (or Gobble Wobbles) are 5K, there is one here where I live that has a 5 mile option which I always run. And this year they’ve atually increased it to a 10K. But still not far enough for an energy gel. Has to be at least 10 miles for that.
