The one from the Celtic Sea may be a sou’wester, but it’s also a kilt lifter.

Everyone talks about that cold north wind, but I’m more worried about that warm south wind.

Bill Nye the Science Guy on his old kids’ TV show once called a big wind that comes from the US northwest a “Nor’wester”.

For the record, “The Windy City” has nothing to do with air currents. In the late 1800s (sorry, I disremember the year) both major parties had their conventions in Chicago, and one of the newspapers started calling it the Windy City because of all the hot air being blown in the convention halls.

Chicago’s location doesn’t really generate much big weather. However, it is located to get almost anything else except hurricanes and tsunamis. But we’ll keep an eye out for them.

And now, if a certain hamburger chain decides to try a spring holiday sandwich with baked ham and deviled eggs, and anybody in the marketing department gets fired for suggesting that they call it the McEaster, that person will get no sympathy from me because that person doesn’t read Frazz.
