My father always complained when I bathed or showered daily. He never bathed more than once a week, sometimes once every two. My mother bathed maybe two or three times a week. Both of them grew up during the Great Depression, which had a big effect on their notion of thrift.
There’s a Warner Brothers cartoon in which Bugs Bunny falls into a barrel of water, then sputters, ”What tha? It ain’t Satidday night!”
