I remember the two fellows who went to Chicago to see the sights, including Navy Pier.
One asked the other how long it was.
The second replied that he didn’t know, but they could count the boards and figure out how long it was.
The first replied there were too many boards, but they could count the slits between the boards.
So, having settled on this plan, they began to count the slits: “1, 2, 3, 5—no, 4 . . . 1432, 1433—” and just at that moment, they walk right of the end of the pier!
As they are bobbing around in Lake Michigan, the first looks sadly at the second, and replies, “Well, I guess when you’re out of slits, you’re out of pier.”
