When I lived in a basement suite, my landlady was preparing for a vacation and started watering a plant. She overdid it so much that the water poured through the ceiling onto my bed (which I wasn’t in), sinking through blankets, sheets, and all the way through the mattress before I got her to turn it off.
Some friends bought a top floor apartment which did indeed have a roof garden exactly as depicted. And they did indeed discover that were leaks, not really from over-watering but particularly under heavy rain when the drains, such as they were, couldn’t cope.

Law of nature: water flows downhill (and down stairs).

Like the totally believable plot of Towering Inferno. Just break the water tort the top and the fire goes out!

Reminded me of the old hair care product jingle, “I’m gonna wash that man right outta my hair!”.
