Wow, a fair amount of evocative narrative on the Blog the last couple of days, Ms. T. You’re compelling me, if not to search my soul, at least to review it.
I don’t mind hyphenated American unless it is an attempt to beat me over the head for something I have not done.In most cases it is not about diversity but divisiveness.
I think that you should put your birth country fist: American-Legume, American-Italian, American-Indian, American-Irish, etc. If you are not born in the Americas, then that place should be first: African-American, French-American, Japanese-American and so on…but I admit to being odd…when asked for my “Race”, I usually put Human…….☻
I was thinking that Margaret Draper might be dead now from cancer, but it appears that she is still alive and will be 95 this year. I must admit that before I stopped smoking in the 70’s, Camels were probably my favorite, so she doesn’t have to sell me. Now I have to get to washing some roses this afternoon. Thanks for the tip Margaret!
