Hollie is probably an overly strict Catholic; the JMJ represents Jesus, Mary, Joseph ( the Holy Family ). In the distant past many Catholic schools used certain initials, such as the AMDG of the Jesuits ( Ad majoram Dei Gloriam – to the greater glory of God ).
Garfield is the smartest of all the characters in this strip including those who have long been omitted. In the first year or so, Jon had a friend whose dog was Odie. The friend disappeared and Odie became Jon’s dog. There was also an elderly couple who were Jon’s neighbours who couldn’t stand Garfield and probably Jon too. I miss this couple.
Jesus Mary Joseph in Catholic schools in the ‘50s they had you write that on your papers no I didn’t go to Catholic school in the ‘50s I just telling you I don’t know why hollie2009ad puts it in her replies religion or politics has no place in the comics
All the above comments may help you. I’m a person of faith but don’t think it is appropriate in this venue. Whatever it means to her, she obviously embarrassed to answer your question. She (to my limited knowledge) doesn’t respond to your questions; others have asked and been ignored by her.

Nice to see Garfield on the fence again! Unfortunately, his audience is so dumb they think opera is a talk-show hostess!
