My boss had a neighbor who had the same trouble with kids and his mailbox. He worked for a railroad. He brought home a piece of high speed passenger rail and set it in a DEEP hole in concrete. After the kid totaled his car hitting the rail, the neighborhood had no more mailbox problems.
