Frank King I am sure would be pleased to know his comic strip creation still exists. However he would also be perplexed that the strip has been reduced to just “talking” heads. Each panel barely has room for text and art. Back in King’s day Slim would be seen “thinking” aloud in some space with an elaborate drawn background. To save paper and ink the publishers and editors determined comic strips would be the ones effected. Granted many modern gag strips have minimal art anyway so it doesn’t effect them. However older and classic strips especially adventure strips with continuity have suffered. I’ve come to rely on reprint books and old comic websites like ilovecomix.com
