I know Jim is going for laughs here,but with a 35 yr. old gas stove if the pilot flame is out and will not light you have no gas- your tank is empty or someone turned the gas value off ! Pilot light has no moving parts to wear out that I remember !

Finding a simple gas stove might be impossible. Stoves have become highly complicated.. The oven controls look like a spaceship ‘s control panel. They are all small and on the back where a anearsigted person can’t read them. Gas has front knobs for most stuff. /
Just for the record, Skeezix would be 94 in 2015 and Clovia likely in her early 70s or so. They all look much younger than they would in reality. Uncle Walt’s wife Phyllis died a while back (2004) without revealing details of Skeezix’s birth mother I believe.
My new stove was reasonably priced…but I think that’s because it was a demo model intended to be sold to engineering schools. It certainly incorporates all the dumb and dangerous features a stove might contain!
