Green for St. Patrick’s Day and Arbor Day, Red, White, And Blue for Memorial Day and Flag Day. Purple(as in Purple Heart) for Veterans’ Day. Orange and black for Halloween. Any appropriate colors for Labor Day and Thanksgiving?

And I can’t think of appropriate colors for Martin Luther King Day, either.

Better stock up on green. You’ll need it for St. Patrick’s Day, Arbor Day, and probably something I’m not thinking of right now.

I used to make my own calendars with stencils and then I’d pick two colors to go with that month. Here is what I did but obviously you’re not going to find lights in all these colors:

    .

For January I saw silver and gold for the New Year.

    .

For February, I of course used red and pink for Valentine’s Day.

    .

For March, I used the standard green and then a lighter shade of green for St. Patrick’s Day.

    .

For April, even though some years Easter comes in March, for Catholics like me the Easter Season lasts for 50 days so, purple and yellow were perfect for it.

    .

For May, while red and blue (on white paper) would be appropriate because of Memorial Day, I saved those colors for Independence Day and instead would use the standard blue and a light blue as May is also a month dedicated to the Blessed Mother and is most often seen in blue.

    .

For June, I used orange and yellow for the start of summer.

    .

For July, as I said, I used red and blue for Independence Day.

    .

For August, there really is no holiday associated with it but my birthday does fall in August (and SHOULD be declared a national holiday!) I just picked two of my favorite colors and used them. The colors could easily be subject to change.

    .

For September, I found that month to be kind of dismal for two reasons. When I was making these, I was in high school and I hated school. So it was dismal because I had to go back to school. But also, my grandfather passed away on September 26th, 1985 and that was the first funeral I remember. So I used black and grey.

    .

For October, I of course used orange and black for Halloween.

    .

For November, orange and brown were perfect for Thanksgiving.

    .

For December, I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that I used red and green!
