King Features had a “Name Snuffy Smith’s Baby” contest & from several thousands of suggestions from readers, ‘Tater’ was the one chosen at the flip of a coin from Snuffy. Loweezy preferred the name ‘Doozie.’
An interestingly pleasant and enjoyable surprise to see Mutt and Jeff for several days after so long. My dad and I saw the two fellows in the Sunday comics every Sunday. We looked over them before and after learning comic was ended a few years before. Unfortunately, seems many people were turned off Gasoline Alley after learning it was also started in the days past. I told my dad more than once seeing a little glimpse of the past was nice and a chance to learn some points of view of the people and times of those days. Also interesting to see the changes over time. I am glad to see others do.
