L'Histoire du Chien Dogs were perhaps the first domesticated animal. They have lived and worked with humans for at least 12,000 years. Saluki-like dogs are represented in Sumerian artwork as old as 7000 B.C.E. George Washington is considered the father of the American foxhound. The comical poodle cut was originally intended to aid the dog's swimming abilities. The poms were left to keep their joints warm. The only dog to appear in one of Shakespeare's plays was Crab in "The Two Gentlemen of Verona". FRA
