Get Fuzzy by Darby Conley for August 10, 2013
Transcript:
Satchel: You can't jump all the way to fungi's window. It must be 15 feet. Bucky: I knew a cat who would jump 18 feet. Satchel: I bet he wasn't wearing an oatmeal box. Bucky: Dunno. He died in the 1920s. Satchel: How did you know him if he died in the 1920s? Bucky: Not the 1920s, the feet feet 20s. 22 feet, to be specific. He tried it. He didn't make it. Like I said, 18 feet was his Max. Satchel: On second thought, go for it. The oatmeal box would contain any splatter.

“I bet he wasn’t wearing an oatmeal box.” HA!

Maybe Captain Oatmeal should pull a plastic bag over the whole costume before he tries the jump!

Light yourself on fire and then jump, Bucky. Much more entertaining than a plain ol’ cat splat….

The great Tim Conway did a bit about the loss of a girl friend while she was swimming toward a dock. A Great White got her just as she almost reached the dock. WHAM!! She’d a made it if she hadn’t been wearing that heavy ham necklace.
This story and the old maxim come to mind here, “You can’t leap a canyon in two jumps.”

Somehow I don’t think it is cynicism – I believe it is his naivity. He doesn’t understand the consequences after the splat.

Did someone appoint JPuzzleWhiz as Darby Conley’s keeper? I missed that memo.

Bucky…. I have seen a cat jump over 20 feet. Easy peasie. Of course, he was on top of a power pole at the time. He only jumped when rescue was near at hand. (probably would have scratched that fireman!). and yes, he landed on his feet and scooted off as fast as a cat on a tear.
