There’s only one way to handle this. Pick up Voltran and sit down with him in your lap. Cuddle him and make him purr. Lay him down on your lap, continue to pet. Grab your book and start reading!

So its a cat, it is my furniture so I pick up the cat gently, sit then place the cat on my lap. Sometimes they stay, sometimes not.
