Hobart is by far the nastiest person to appear on this comic since Carl, the golf-mad father who went HRONK!Even though this strip is drawn so badly, the characters are well done, as likeable as Jo-Al, or as despicable as Hobart. What’s this about the Buick?
This strip is still in the 50’s? Rolling up to a school board meeting in a Buick now will make people think you don’t support the kids enough. If you’re on the school board, only BMW or Mercedes-Benz will do. A Lexus just makes you a pretender.
Somebody needs to give the PE teacher some finance instruction. Does he seriously think that the money he has paid from his salary will come even close to providing him an income equal to 90% of his average salary for the 20+ years after he retires?
@knightman: and you would lose. Yes I have a pension, but it doesn’t pay a guaranteed income. My employer makes a contribution each year based on my salary, and when I retire it pays based on what accumulated. And for this pension I work approximately 50 more days per year than the typical teacher, I have received a raise of less than 2% the past two years, no bonus in 2009 or 2010 and $4k this year. And in boom times never more than 6%. The guys getting $1 million+ bonuses represent less than 1% of the people employed in banking.

I fully suspect that Jenkins does not approve of Hobart acting a fool and will repo the Buick.

I thought you had to be at least 75 to drive a Buick-Hobart looks to be about 60.
