“Football” as in rugby or, as the US calls it, soccer?

As dukedog pointed out, most states and territories generally prefer Australian Rules Football while the rest generally prefer Rugby League.

Of course there’s interest in Rugby Union and Soccer too, but for the most part it’s the AFL and NRL which are competing for the title of Australia’s most popular Winter sport (well, those are the two codes our media focuses on the most) while cricket is popular just about everywhere across the country during Summer.

And I know I’m being a real pendant by saying that the football season is well and truly underway right now (for those of you overseas, it generally runs between March and September/October each year), but this is still a very good comic regardless! ;)

When I saw this, I though Footy right away! (Though I’m American, I’ve been a fan of Aussie Rules for 30 years.)
