In my university cafeteria the serves Jello as dessert on Monday. On Tuesday it was Jello and whipped cream. Wednesday it was Jello, whipped cream and a cherry. Thursday it was Jello, whipped cream, a cherry and crushed walnuts. You get the drift. We swore they bought the Jello in 45 gallon drum. It was so bad we called it “Janitor in a drum”. You have to be my age it understand that phrase.
In my grade school we had to line up and walk to the cafeteria, those who were getting the school lunch lined up in front, brown baggers in back. When we got to the cafeteria the food trays were already on the table and our teacher would dismiss the class after 30 minutes and check to make sure those getting the school lunch cleaned their tray/plate. Also we were not allowed to talk while at the table. This was in Fresno, Ca. 1957-64.

You know it’s bad when each meal includes a complimentary antacid.
